These lines whisper like the intimate exchange between lovers reunited after a long separation, a sentiment captured by the Greek electronic duo IN TRANCE 95 in their December 1988 release "Desire To Desire." Formed in Athens by Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis in May 1988, they were the first band in Greece to craft their entire sound with electronic instruments.
From the very beginning, Alex and Nik, who were just 18 back then had a knack for crafting an atmosphere that roamed the urban landscape, tinged with an air of mystery and intrigue, using portable analog synths and drum machines. Their music seamlessly blended melodic synth wave and industrial music, masterfully cherry-picking elements from the era's finest synth-pop and industrial sounds. Inspired by the track by IN TRANCE 95, ARTICLE NO.'s co-founder and creative director, ANT de Padovane, weaves a story of two lover sent wined in an affectionate chase through the LA streets and alleyways he knows so well. "Desire to desire/ This feeling's over me/ Inside me there's a fire/ Oh how could it be?” As ANT unfolds the story, we're transported into the role of a stealthy documentarian cameras in hand, capturing the raw emotion of the lovers and feeling the same fire inside our hearts.
